Ignore every bastard and bitch who talk and yell and label and talk down to you. Don’t give the ignorant credence. You are better than that.

Your sexuality, race or gender does not define you. What you are is not a definition. It’s just being called ‘Human’

Typical privileged white boy problems.

The reason people find it hard to shed these labels- ‘queer’, ‘gay’, ‘black’, ‘woman’ - and instead, even embrace them - is because they’re told every single day of their life that they’re worthless and pathetic and ‘not as good as you’ and don’t deserve the same rights and don’t deserve the same treatment and the same opportunities…

People take on these labels because they’re proud of who they are and that is their fight. It’s their protest. Their way of saying this IS who I am, take it or leave it.

This may be a different argument if all people of all gender, races and sexualities had the same starts in life, the same opportunities and the same chances - but they don’t. This is why they take on these labels- because they ARE different- and because they ARE different they are treated differently.

(also- ‘bitch’ - poor choice of word when one of your hashtags is ‘feminism’)

Thanks for this. Remind me to be gay, black and a girl next time I call for solidarity against societies shitstorm and that you should be proud of who you are no matter what cards you’ve been dealt.

This is me and Benjamin.

After being in a serious, 8 year, relationship with my wife I was left in a bit of a state when she left me for a friend of mine in November ‘12.

I’ve been seeing Benjamin since mid January ‘13 and we’ve been in an ‘official’ relationship for just under two months now.

I’ve always considered myself pansexual but for some reason never saw myself having a male partner - probably due to the social connotations of being ‘out’.

I’m embarrassed to say I was worried about introducing my friends to Benjamin but the situation’s not been met with an ounce of hostility which is very reassuring.

I’m xedx, I’m queer and I’m very happy.

So a month or so ago a friend of mine convinced me to learn a couple songs to sing at an open mic night with him, I’d gone through a bit of shitty time and doing this was on my ‘list of things to do, in order to stop being a massive pussy’.. I’m still amazed I actually got up and did it.

We did the open mic night, which was received really well and decided there and then on the dumb name ‘Will & Ed’s Excellent Adventure’ -you know, like the film, everyone loves a bit of Keanu.

We started sticking songs on youtube, purely for our own enjoyment- but other people started watching them too- and before you knew it we started getting offers to play shows… this is the first official one to be announced.

I’m absolutely terrified, so if some of my friends can make it down to Cafe Irie on 13th April that would be pretty rad.
